    • About

It was 1942 and World War II had just begun when ten San Luis Obispo residents gathered to discuss forming a credit union -- a financial co-op -- to provide mutual financial support. It would be an organization of people and for people, a cooperation between savers and borrowers. It would allow people of ordinary means to borrow at reasonable interest rates under thoroughly honest and fair conditions.
Thirty-two San Luis Obispo County school employees were present on January 8, 1943 in the San Luis Obispo High School library when Superintendent Charles E. Teach called the first official meeting to order. San Luis Obispo County School Employees Federal Credit Union held its first elections and began operations with assets of just $500. Six years later the name was changed to School Employees of San Luis Obispo, and the acronym SESLOC was adopted.
Today, with over 33,000 members and more than 69 years of service to the community, SESLOC retains its commitment to providing valued services and education with honesty and integrity . . . one member at a time.
SESLOC Federal Credit Union offers services to everyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in San Luis Obispo County, as well as their families, including parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren and siblings, including step relationships.
